Introduction

The company Digital Hydraulics Holland BV was founded in 1987 by prominent Dutch wave researchers employed at Delft University of Technology.
The company is registered with the Rotterdam Chamber of Commerce under the number 2305500.

DHH recently developed a SWAN course. This course is designed to bridge the gap between the text books on ocean waves and the SWAN user manual. This makes the course useful not only for consultants which lack the capacity of introducing new staff members to shallow water wave modelling, but also for universities which give assignments to graduate students in the field of waves.
The course treats all the aspects that a beginning user is faced with, like: choice of the computational grid, choice of the incident wave field, how to do nesting in various circumstances, and how to prevent errors during the project by proper care during the initial phase. The course also suggests how to proceed if the results are incorrect or unreliable.

DHH is working as a consultant to consultants; it provides assistance to the users of SWAN and other wave models to further their modelling capabilities and presentation of results. Click here for an overview of services and products.
DHH will also accept commissions where in-depth knowledge of the SWAN model is required, or where a strong emphasis on interpretation of the results is needed. In order to support this activity it developed a system called ARCADIA which assists the user in carrying out a sensitivity analysis, calibration or probability analysis with various numerical simulation models, including SWAN.

DHH can be contacted through: info@digital-hydraulics.com
The address of DHH is: Willemsplein 535, 3016 DR Rotterdam, Holland

Experience

DHH personnel has a large experience in assisting SWAN users in solving problems of SWAN users, and in quality control in cases where SWAN users were uncertain whether the results of their computations were correct or not.
DHH has carried out a number of studies and has assisted other agencies in a range of projects.
It has carried out a study on waves attack on floating bridges, and it has made a study on wave reduction over very narrow shoals in the North Sea.
DHH has made a study to determine wave setup on a sandy coast.
It has assisted a principal in a study on wave penetration into a large harbour extension, and it has assisted a consultant in a diffraction study in view of the design of an artificial island.
It has assisted in determining the wave climate at a coastal location, and it has participated in a research project involving wave propagation over very shallow, partially vegetated areas.
