NewsNew SWAN waves courseAs part of its aim to support smaller and medium-sized consultants active in coastal engineering, Digital Hydraulics now developed a SWAN course. This course is designed to bridge the gap between the text books on ocean waves and the SWAN user manual. This makes the course useful not only for consultants which lack the capacity of introducing new staff members to shallow water wave modelling, but also for universities which give assignments to graduate students in the field of waves. The course treats all the aspects that a beginning user is faced with, like: choice of the computational grid, choice of the incident wave field, how to do nesting in various circumstances, and how to prevent errors during the project by proper care during the initial phase. The course also suggests how to proceed if the results are incorrect or unreliable. The course is illustrated with many examples using SWAN, often with help of the graphical capabilities of the SWAN extension by Digital Hydraulics. It shows how to make optimal use of the Graphical User Interface by DHH. The course is offered as part of the DHH software package consisting of a Graphical User Interface for SWAN, a SWAN executable (identical to version 40.72 by Delft University) with graphics extension, and a post-processing package with special features for SWAN. This package is available only for the Windows operating system. The price of the package is unchanged: € 450 (excl VAT) per year. New SWAN version by D.U.T.
Recently Delft University published its new version 40.72 of SWAN.
An important new development in this version is the use of unstructured
computational grids. The
SWAN website
provides more information.
Digital Hydraulics is now able to offer its
graphics extension for
this new SWAN.
This extension enables SWAN users to visualise all scalar and vectorial
quantities of SWAN also if an unstructured grid was used
for the computation.
Because the graphics software is integrated with the SWAN computational
software it is quicker and more powerful than offline post-processing systems
provided by other institutes.
Package offer from DHHThe SWAN course is delivered together with the newest SWAN version (40.72) with graphics extension, the Graphical User Interface and the post-processing package OPGraph for € 450 (excl VAT) per year. A demo version which is functionally identical but with a shorter license period, can be applied for by filling in a simple order form. The package is available only for MS-Windows based systems. |
